With each new year comes more glory to the Protectorate, all thanks to the grace, foresight, and leadership or our Lord and Protector. Let us take this day to reflect upon the gifts he bestows upon us: honour, freedom, and pride.
Thanks also go out to family and friends who welcomed us to parties and other gatherings this season. Your heartfelt generosity is thoroughly appreciated.
As for 1995...
The very best is yet to come.

Had never before noticed how inconveniently long the period between full moons is.

Oh, wife. You speak as if I were the only one drunk, instead of it being that you were the only one sober. I am deeply sorry if you felt left out.
Thank you for airing your thoughts. They are duly noted.

I have been formulating several thoughts regarding your future, and I wish to share them with you now, while they are still a while off. That way, I think we can avoid any pouts of protest, hmm?
I have a strong inclination to give you to your Aunt Narcissa for the summer, perhaps pulling you from consideration for the CCF programme in the process. As much as the CCF programme is an honour, I don't know that it is entirely necessary for someone on your particular trajectory. My sister can teach you far more about what it is you'll need to know in order to be Harry Marvolo's husband one day.
Now, on that note, how goes your oh-so-grand plan to provoke his jealousies using that squib-boy?

I've never poutMummy, what is it you think that Auntie Narcissa can teach me? I do think would enjoy spending time with her this summer. Isn't CCF awfully important for what it says about you as a person, though, no matter what the trajectory?
Harry hasn't been seeing Honoria Sandoval since the ball, not that I know of. So that's good news at least.

Be sure of it.
But to answer your question: you ought to have seen your Aunt Narcissa at all these parties in the week past. As much good as it might do the Protectorate, it cannot be denied that she does know how to glow. She is also an expert at wrapping various men around her little finger. First Father (now THAT was an achievement), now countless others, all tied there so as to secure the attentions of one above all the rest.
When you were younger I did not peg you for one who would be suited to follow in her footsteps. You were too plain and simple, as I saw it (and what your Father saw can be dismissed out of hand). Now, however, I've come to see that the charm you hold on your Father may in fact be an echo of what my sister held over ours. And as for your looks - you'll never model, but there's clearly something to them, as the rabble over your appearance at the Yule Ball seems to indicate.
As to Harry: I don't know that his disinterest in Honoria Sandoval counts as interest in you. Do better. And at least see that you get something useful from that squib-boy while you're at it. Practice of some kind - though do mind that you keep it from your Father.

Practice... Well, Justin is helping me with arithmancy, because he's good at maths. Unless you meant something else.

You do need help with arithmancy, no doubt, but that is not precisely what I meant. Use your imagination, child, or else ask your Aunt Narcissa.
And - see to it that you don't get too attached. You know how foolishly sentimental you can be. He'll go back to France at the end of the year and will be sure to forget you and move on with his life. You best be prepared to do the same.

See to it that you do, and seriously, at that.
