Thank you for your hard work, perseverance, and fortitude over these last days. It is noted and it is appreciated.

There will be much more work to come.

The lord protector had a inspired vision of a realm where purity was respected and encouraged; where the vast limits of magic were freely explored rather than condemned; where wizards and witches did not have to live amongst the inferiour, or hide in the shadows. That vision was and is still something to behold. But the execution of that vision was flawed.

The lord protector had power that none of us have ever known, but that power did not last. Look at the evidence around you - all gone to dust. It was the power of false promises, of one who dared to divide the most pure and loyal of his servants. As intoxicating as power is, power cannot last. Power will always turn to dust.

The only thing that lasts is blood, and we cannot remain divided if we are to wrest this land back from the filthy-fingered thieves who would make it their own.

This is no longer the lord protector's realm, but it won't be theirs, either.

I, as should shock you not in the least, do not apparently qualify for the halfway house they are attempting to piece together; Lamont merely wished to gloat.

Barty, have your lot made any progress yet on determining who holds the Secret for Dover? Or has Gus made any headway on the idea of adapting the wards to allow passage elsewhere? This will get more difficult, and much more tedious, if we can't resupply.

Dover's secret remains elusive. As for Gus, if you can make sense of what he says at this point, you're doing better than I.

As for Lamont. Perhaps they mean to out-audit us? The phoenix, rising from the ashes of ledger books and inventory reports--suppose they really don't have anyone better.

Well. Ledgers and inventory did unravel part of their plot already; maybe they hope to do it for their own benefit this time.

I'll try to stop in with Gus for a moment in between running from hither to yon tomorrow, and see if I can get him to make more sense than he did last time. (I sat through twenty minutes of ranting about Stornoway before giving it up for a lost cause.)

Don't be up all night again, solynshko, you need at least a few hours' rest. Which I am about to go do myself.

We should have the necessary measurements for a first approximation of how buggered up the wards have been with his death at midnight Friday. I'll have some answers of what needs to be done Saturday morning after the calculations are finished.

No matter the exact results of the arithmancy and rune casting, we will need access to all the primary points and the dragons at Stornoway. The partial team sent there still has not returned nor responded to any communications. Must be a priority to retake. Attempting to work around our lack of access in Dover will complicate things greatly.

Various efforts might be eased if we have an artifact infused with any portion of his magic. Do either of you have anything that might meet that description? It would likely be destroyed or rendered inert in service of moving the ward anchors from his lingering influence to our natural sources of magic. In retrospect, tying such vital works to one individual was a poor decision. one among many
